FOX was challenged with designing a space that was 80% smaller than the client’s previous office, yet significantly more functional and aligned with a new, forward-thinking way of working. Embracing the realities of a hybrid work model, the design team guided the client through the transition to a fully unassigned workspace—redefining how space could support flexibility, autonomy, and collaboration. The result is a thoughtfully balanced environment that offers a variety of work settings while maintaining a consistent, cohesive aesthetic. Modern, inviting, and highly functional, the space delivers comfort without compromise, supporting both focused work and dynamic team engagement.
We led the client through a transformative journey, helping them reimagine their workspace to reflect an evolving and more progressive model of legal practice. Moving away from traditional norms, we introduced fresh insight into what a modern, unconventional law firm could be—agile, open, and employee-centered. Private offices were intentionally reduced in size and left unassigned, while benching-style workstations created a highly open and flexible environment. Furniture played a pivotal role in the success of the design; a diverse mix of solutions was thoughtfully integrated throughout the office to empower individual choice and support a variety of work styles. The result is a dynamic space that aligns with how people work today.
The impact of the new workspace is both cultural and operational, signaling a bold shift in how the client approaches work, space, and collaboration. By significantly reducing square footage while increasing functionality, the office now serves as a model for how thoughtful design can enable flexibility without sacrificing performance. The transition to a fully unassigned, activity-based environment has empowered employees to work more dynamically—choosing from a variety of settings that support focus, connection, and movement throughout the day. The space feels modern and balanced, yet warm and inviting—fostering a sense of comfort and choice that aligns seamlessly with the evolving expectations of a hybrid workforce.
