To stand-out among DC’s most elite business corridors, Sentinel Group employed FOX Architects to modernize 1201 Pennsylvania Ave. with Class “A” amenities and reimagine how the entrance engaged passerby. Our team wanted the new lobby to be experienced before entering the building and ensure tenants had thoughtful and accessible amenities to supplement a 21st century workforce.

Solution

Replacing the lobby’s dated pink granite finish with elegant white marble creates a wow-factor passerby can see from street-level. The reskin leverages 1201 Pennsylvania’s lobby, one of the largest by volume in DC, to activate the tenant experience before entering the building. Natural light once absorbed by the darker granite now reflects from the white marble and fills the atrium; illuminating the two-story glass front from the inside-out.

Impact

FOX Architects evolved 1201 Pennsylvania’s lobby with sophisticated and simple materials. Tenancy has increased by 40% since the lobby and amenity renovations. FOX Architects is continuing tenant experience improvements at 1201 Pennsylvania Ave. with a new, trophy-class roof top amenity.
