Shook, Hardy and Bacon, a Washington, DC law firm, relocated to a new office space and wanted a workplace environment that could attract and retain talented attorneys, express their time-honored image, and modernize their work environment.
The FOX Architects team designed a space to balance the firm’s traditional image with a relaxed workspace. Throughout the space, areas were designated to promote employee interaction and collaboration, including an open pantry, a coffee bar adjacent to the reception area, and team gathering zones. The conference area was designed as a hub and specialized for clients and visitors. An open atrium in the center of the space features a monumental staircase and allows natural light into the office. Environmentally responsible elements were also utilized throughout the space.
Shook, Hardy and Bacon’s new office space significantly increased day-to-day interaction among its employees and has helped to reenergize its culture. It has also worked well as a tool to attract and retain staff, and as a work environment, meets today’s market demands.
