BP America, a leading energy company, entrusted FOX Architects to navigate their cultural shift from the previous, primarily closed-office environment to new space with a semi-open floor plan and modern, progressive elements.
The design team worked with BP to pair collaborative spaces, including team rooms, an informal lounge and large pantry, with private areas such as workstations with high partitions to create a balance of types of spaces. One distinctive design element—a photomosaic wall comprised of 616,896 images culled from BP’s archives—tied the corporate brand and message together, giving visitors and employees a visual representation of what the company does.
BP America’s new space is an inspirational and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors alike. Their new space earned a LEED®-CI Platinum certification, which at the time, was only the second space in the greater Washington region and 13th in the country to achieve this level of certification.
