American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) is a national trade association of the forest products industry, including pulp, paper, packaging, and wood products. AF&PA wanted a bright space that reinforces its brand and supports wellness and sustainability. Another goal was to showcase forest products’ essential contributions to everyday life.
The FOX Architects team creatively incorporated recycled paper products into many design features. A feature wall displays a paper-based honeycomb packaging material, adding dimensionality and texture. A screen wall made of local tree limbs uniquely designates space, while graphic banners highlight important applications of paper products for literacy, hygiene, construction, art, and more. We fostered wellness with biophilic materials and design and full glass office fronts that allow natural light to penetrate 90% of the space.
With creative use of recycled content, high air quality goals, use of local materials, and by reusing existing building systems, this project achieved a 3 out of 4 Green Globe Certification rating for wellness and sustainability. American Forest & Paper Association’s new space creatively showcases their industry in a bright, healthy environment.
