The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) is a national trade association of the forest products industry, including pulp, paper, packaging and wood products. AF&PA wanted a space that was bright, airy and reinforced its brand. The space was to message and showcase forest products’ essential value to everyday modern life.
The FOX Architects team incorporated design features to include creative use of recycled content, such as a wall made of Haxacomb, a leading paper-based honeycomb packaging solution that was donated by a member; use of locally manufactured material, such as a screen wall comprised of tree limbs; and even strategically placed graphic banners highlighting paper and wood-based products that play an important role in daily life, such as in literacy, hygiene and construction, to name a few. Full glass office fronts permit natural light to penetrate 90% of the space, lending to an open and prosperous environment.
With creative use of recycled content, high air quality goals, use of locally manufactured material, and reusing existing building systems, this project was able to achieve a 3 out of 4 Green Globe Certification rating. American Forest & Paper Association now has a bright, healthy space that strongly reinforces their brand and motivates its employees and members alike.
