The American Beverage Association (ABA) is the trade association that represents America’s non-alcoholic beverage industry, including hundreds of beverage brands, distributors and franchise companies. Having been in their original space for 40 years, ABA wanted their new space to be reflective of their iconic industry. They also wanted their new space to be more open, to support their collaborative culture and be large enough to accommodate industry events, which were being held offsite previously.
The design team generated a spatial-diagram where the ceiling plane connected the space through color-changing LED lighting, and common materials found in the beverage industry, such as bottle caps, beverage containers, and glass bottles were incorporated throughout. The café features a bottle cap backsplash and pendant lights made out of recycled beverage containers. The reception area includes a lighted display of beverage container silhouettes, while the elevator lobby’s wall lights up with recycled material made to look like bubbles. The team also incorporated movable partitions to six different areas to allow for multi-purpose flexibility and to easily accommodate large events.
The American Beverage Association’s new space is representative of the national voice for the non-alcoholic refreshment beverage industry and is a bright, colorful reflection of their members, and industry as a whole. Their new space is functional and flexible to meet their every need, and supports their educational and sustainable initiatives.
