J.P. Spickler, Principal of Fox Architects Elevated to the AIA College of Fellows

WASHINGTON, DC, May 1, 2017 – FOX Architects, LLC, an award-winning architecture and interior design firm, is excited to announce that J.P. Spickler, Principal, has been elevated to the prestigious College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), an honor awarded to members who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society.

J.P. Spickler, FAIA, LEED AP, is a Partner in the firm, and leads the firm’s Architecture discipline. He has more than 30 years of experience encompassing more than 13 million square feet of corporate commercial and institutional projects. Over the past decade, J.P. has garnered a reputation of expertise in the “recycling” and transformation of antiquated structures into new, viable architecture. He has skillfully orchestrated complex requirements with pioneering technologies to advance design excellence. His transformation of obsolete structures has revitalized the urban fabric by setting precedent for sustainable redevelopment. J.P.’s projects include 400 First Street in Washington, DC, Washington Gas in Springfield, VA and 1400 Crystal Drive in Crystal City, VA.

“J.P. has gracefully, artfully, and efficiently transformed aging, functionally obsolete assets into forward-thinking work places that are aesthetically beautiful and functional … his work over the last few years has truly set the standard for building re-positioning in Washington DC,” said Kevin L. Howard, Senior Vice President at CBRE, Inc.

J.P. has received numerous design awards, and his work has been featured in national and international design publications. He has also lectured nationally on the topic of building transformation and “recycling.”

“J.P. is the undisputed leader in commercial renovation and expansion in the DC metro area, and has completed several of the most highly acclaimed redevelopment projects in the city,” said John Stewart, Principal Minshall Stewart Properties.

The AIA Fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Election to fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of architects as individuals, but also their significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level. Out of more than 90,000 AIA members, less than 3% are distinguished with the honor of fellowship.

This year’s Fellows were honored at the 2017 AIA Conference on Architecture in Orlando, Florida, April 27-29.
