FOX ARCHITECTS ANNOUNCES PROMOTION OF MARKETING DIRECTOR AND SENIOR PROJECT MANAGERS AS NEW ASSOCIATES

WASHINGTON, DC (February 6, 2020) – FOX Architects, an interdisciplinary architecture and interior design firm, is proud to announce that Melissa Epstein, marketing director; Ursula Finley, IIDA, senior project manager; and Yamil Tamayo, AIA, senior project architect have been promoted to Associate.

 

Effective immediately, Epstein, Finley, and Tamayo will round out the firm’s Associate team of experts, which includes an IT director, operation’s director, design director, project director, among other architects and designers.

 

“These three individuals have demonstrated that they are the next generation of leaders in our firm. Along with their leadership, they have earned places on our associates’ team for their respective expertise in marketing, interiors, and architecture,” said Derek Wood, Managing Principal, FOX Architects. “These promotions are part of our firm’s strategic move to deliver industry-leading design solutions to increasingly complex projects. It takes a well-rounded team of leaders across the firm to accomplish our goals, and we are confident that our new associates will help position the firm toward the future.”

 

Epstein brings 18 years of experience in implementing integrated marketing and communications strategies for regional, national, and global brands. She joined FOX Architects in 2017 and has reestablished the firm’s marketing department. She led the redesign of the firm’s website, which earned Outstanding Achievement and Best Architecture Website awards from the Web Marketing Association (WMA). She also led the strategy, development, and execution of the firm’s office move campaign, which won the Marketing Communications Award of Excellence for Special Events from the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS); as well as the Award of Excellence for Best Marketing Program from the Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP DC|MD).

 

Previously, Epstein served as the senior director of marketing and communications for United Way of the National Capital Area (United Way NCA). While at United Way NCA, Epstein received the Award of Excellence from the American Graphic Design Award contest, as well as the Silver Addy® Award for Print Newspaper from the American Advertising Association. She also served as the senior marketing associate for Grant Thornton, LLP, and as the marketing coordinator for Torti Gallas + Partners, an international architecture and urban design firm. Epstein holds a Masters of Science in marketing from Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School and a Bachelor of Arts in mass communications from Emory & Henry College.

 

 Finley, IIDA, joined FOX Architects in 2018, bringing with her nearly 20 years of experience in interior design for global architecture firms. She is the senior project manager on several of the firm’s interiors projects, including KeyW, National Governors Association, and the recently completed Convene coworking space at 600 14th Street. Previously, she served as a senior project manager for IA Interior Architects, and as a project designer for Perkins + Will’s Washington, DC office. Some of her specialties include space planning, workplace design, sustainability, and project management. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC), and received certification from the US Green Building Council in LEED AP and certification from the Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ).

 

Tamayo, AIA, recently joined FOX Architects in 2019 and has worked on Halley Rise – Block G as a senior project architect and specification writer, as well as US Pharmacopeia and 7500 Old Georgetown Road as a technical director. Tamayo joined FOX Architects from the Perkins + Will Washington, DC office, where he served as a senior project architect. Previously, he was the technical director for Gensler, DC, where he worked on commercial office buildings, government, not-for-profit, mixed-use and high-rise condominiums, hospitality and hotels, and residential and commercial buildings. Tamayo holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). He has received certifications from the US Green Building Council in LEED AP BD+C, the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), and the Project Management Institute.
