Shook Hardy & Bacon L.L.P.
This international law firm, which has been serving a diverse client base for over 117 years, relocated to a new Class A office space in the vibrant Penn Quarter. Their new office is located in a unique space, where an assemblage of historic buildings meets a newly constructed glass tower. The Client’s work space is located within both of these structures, and is comprised primarily of private office space, with a conference center located on the second floor. The design goals included attracting and retaining attorneys, expressing their time-honored image, and modernizing their work environment. The design solution integrated their traditional image with a relaxed work space by connecting the contrasting old and new images. One of the main design features is a monumental stair located in one of their two atriums. Throughout the space, areas were designated to promote employee interaction and collaboration, including a large, open pantry, a coffee bar adjacent to the reception area, and additional team gathering areas. An open atrium in the center of the space allows an abundant amount of natural light into their work space. Environmentally responsible elements were also utilized throughout the space, including a daylight harvesting system to reduce energy consumption, low VOC materials, and regionally produced products, helping this project to achieve a LEED Silver Certification.
"We are extremely pleased with our new space, as are all the attorneys and staff. You guys did a wonderful job, and we enjoyed working with you. I have worked with other architects in the past, and you and and your team are truly exceptional. " - Diane Prokop, Office Administrator
