Founded in 2007, Opower develops software that helps utility companies comply with state regulations for energy use and engage with their customers to reduce utilities consumption. With an eye toward innovation, Opower required a corporate headquarters space that would express its position as a clean-energy leader and would accommodate its growing staff size.
As a budget and energy conscious client, Opower wanted a new space that reused existing elements to minimize construction time and energy consumption as well as adhered to LEED guidelines for interior office spaces. The FOX design team opted to provide the young, tech-savvy company with a primarily open office environment to compliment the organization’s youthful, collaborative culture. The design fosters community amongst its staff with copious open work areas, casual hangout zones, and multiple conference rooms. The office includes a large conference room on the 7th floor that has the flexibility to convert into two conference rooms.
Located at the heart of the space are the entertainment lounge/game room and large cafe area. The cafe features numerous seating areas, full-stocked refrigerator and large pantry area. The pantry/cafe creates a destination for employees to hang out, host casual meetings, and encourage interdepartmental interaction.
