Cushman & Wakefield

Location: Tysons Corner, VA
Project Size: 27,000

Cushman & Wakefield has been providing creative and innovative brokerage services around the world since 1917. They requested a modern, clean space able to appeal to the upcoming workforce while capturing the established tradition rooted in their culture.

Balancing the design to appeal to these two generations is observed once you step off the elevator and enter the lobby. One on side; a traditional conference room that is a physical representation of Cushman's established success and tradition. On the other; a flexible space deemed the "integration lounge." This space appeals to the upcoming workforce by offering a variety of choices on how to work while serving as a collision point to promote interaction amongst employees.

A clean, modern look was achieved by utilizing different textures throughout the space. Using traditional materials in a modern way elevated the design to speak to the younger generation while still appealing to the generation currently running the ship. For example, a jewelry box wrapped alligator print leather serves as a visual counter balance to the reception desk in the lobby. A reclaimed wood table is the centerpiece of the integration lounge and assists in promoting collaboration.

Another unique aspect of the space is the nod to the building's architecture. Our design team carried the design concept from the buildings exterior cantilever piece into the elevator lobby using grey wood to create a timeless bridge between old and new.
