Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)

Location: Washington, DC
Project Size: 9,500 SF

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) advances educator preparation and offers continuous support to improve P-12 student learning by creating  universal standards.   CAEP hired FOX to design their new offices as they relocated from an older building to a newly renovated office building south of DuPont Circle.

CAEP used the motif of books and educational materials  throughout their space, particularly in frosted film overlay on the glass conference room surfaces, and corridor walls.  Not only does this use of graphics reinforce their mission, it also serves as a way finding tool.  The conference room features operable partitions and moveable tables to allow for maximum flexibility and configuration.  The closed offices reside on the window line, but feature glass walls and sliding doors, allowing for daylight permeation into the interior of the space.

The challenging column span of the building gave the design team the opportunity to wrap each column in reclaimed stacked wood, while creating small seating nooks and credenzas between columns.
