Kettler Wins Fairfax Honor Award

September 11, 2017

FOX Architects’ is excited to announce that Kettler was recently awarded an Honor Award for Commercial Office (Interiors) for its new combined headquarters as part of the 2017 Fairfax County James M. Scott Exceptional Design Awards Program.

Established in 1985, the James M. Scott Exceptional Design Awards recognize achievement in the total design of a building and its site. The awards aim to raise awareness of outstanding planning and design projects among design professionals and the general public.  The design awards program is sponsored by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and administered by the County's Department of Planning and Zoning in cooperation with the County Architectural Review Board and the Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Kettler, one of greater Washington area’s top real estate development and property management companies, commissioned FOX Architects to design its new combined headquarters in McLean, Virginia.

With the merging of two of its business units together under one roof, Kettler wanted its new space to reinforce its unified vision, with all employees working together towards the same, common goal. To help Kettler accomplish this, FOX Architects created an open environment supplemented by intimate work zones and amenity spaces. This ensemble created an energized and accessible space further promoting the Kettler mantra. The team also reduced panel heights at workstations, used clear glazing and allowed the public spaces to function as secondary work zones, ultimately helping to reinforce connectivity and unity within the organization.

“Our open and modular design enables greater collaboration and communication, resulting in higher productivity and happier employees. We simply love our new space and this award is like icing on the cake,” said Usha Chaudhary, President and COO of Kettler.

Winners of the Fairfax County Exceptional Design Awards will be publicly recognized by the Fairfax County of Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, October 17, 2017.
